Regency Style Statuary & Euofotide Chimney-piece

Modern reproduction
This Chimney-piece follows the design by George Dance the Younger as produced for Coleorton Hall in the early 19th Century, but incorporates Euofotide pillasters.

The refined elegance of Regency period chimney-pieces executed on a large scale has always interested us.

During the Napoleonic wars access to large quantities of Statuary marble became increasingly difficult which contributed to the change in style from the previous century. Many of the chimney-pieces were much lower and were designed this way in order to incorporate larger mirrors, which had become possible to make on a larger scale. This modern design has been executed from a combination of solid Statuary and very rare Eufotide marble. The design is taken from a drawing by George Dance the Younger probably intended for Coleorton in Leicestershire.
